We have many ways to give - explore the options below!

  • A DAF is a charitable giving account that allows you to recommend grants to qualified nonprofits like Urban Rivers. It is an excellent option if you wish to make a meaningful impact while receiving potential immediate tax benefits. Use the light blue button to contribute via a DAF!

  • Donating appreciating stocks, bonds, or mutual funds that have increased in value is a smart and effective way to support our mission while potentially reducing your tax liability.

  • If you are 70½ or older, you can make a meaningful impact to the Urban Rivers through a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA). A QCD allows you to transfer up to $100,000 directly from your IRA to Urban Rivers. This gift counts toward your required minimum distribution (RMD) if you are 73 or older, but it is not included in your taxable income. Giving from your IRA is simple! Just contact your IRA custodian and request a direct transfer to Urban Rivers:

  • A donation in the form of a check can be made out to Urban Rivers, and can be mailed to our office address: 1440 N. Kingsbury Street Suite 006, Chicago, IL 60642.

  • We appreciate support in all forms! If you’d like to contribute something physical that you believe would be valuable to our work, please get in touch with us by emailing team@urbanriv.org! Examples of valuable donations include kayak gear, construction tools, and non-perishable snacks for our volunteers, but our needs also include larger items such as a new van for supply transportation! If you’re unsure whether your donation would be useful to us, we encourage you to get in touch!

  • Recurring donations are a super valuable way to support our work, since they allow our team to have a consistent and predictable funding base, which makes it a lot easier to plan for the future! If you sign up for a recurring donation of any amount, you will be added to our Wildlife Camera Club! This club gives you exclusive access to footage from our wildlife cameras to see all the unique creatures who call our gardens home. We send out monthly emails with the best shots of furry and feathery faces (or sometimes behinds) captured on film.
