If you are 70½ or older, you can make a meaningful impact to the Urban Rivers through a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA). A QCD allows you to transfer up to $100,000 directly from your IRA to Urban Rivers. This gift counts toward your required minimum distribution (RMD) if you are 73 or older, but it is not included in your taxable income. Giving from your IRA is simple! Examples of valuable donations include kayak gear, construction tools, and non-perishable snacks for our volunteers, but our needs also include larger items such as a new van for supply transportation! Recurring donations are a super valuable way to support our work, since they allow our team to have a consistent and predictable funding base, which makes it a lot easier to plan for the future! If you sign up for a recurring donation of any amount, you will be added to our Wildlife Camera Club! This club gives you exclusive access to footage from our wildlife cameras to see all the unique creatures who call our gardens home. We send out monthly emails with the best shots of furry and feathery faces (or sometimes behinds) captured on film.
