By supporting Urban Rivers, you are helping us to build critical wetland habitat and innovative community green spaces, making our city greener, more sustainable, and educational for all. Together we can create an ecological spaces like the Wild Mile that benefit all who call Chicago home, humans and wildlife alike.
If you sign up for a recurring donation of any amount, you will be added to our Wildlife Camera Club! This club gives you exclusive access to footage from our wildlife cameras to see all the unique creatures who call our gardens home. We send out monthly emails with the best shots of furry and feathery faces (or sometimes behinds) captured on film.

IRA Qualified Charitable Distributions
If you are 70½ or older, you can make a meaningful impact to the Urban Rivers through a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA). A QCD allows you to transfer up to $100,000 directly from your IRA to Urban Rivers. This gift counts toward your required minimum distribution (RMD) if you are 73 or older, but it is not included in your taxable income. Giving from your IRA is simple! We appreciate support in all forms! If you’d like to contribute something physical that you believe would be valuable to our work, please get in touch with us by emailing team@urbanriv.org! Examples of valuable donations include kayak gear, construction tools, and non-perishable snacks for our volunteers, but our needs also include larger items such as a new van for supply transportation!
