Agave Spirits and Ancestral Solutions with Lou Bank

  • Wild Mile 905 West Eastman Street Chicago, IL, 60642 United States (map)

Join Lou Bank to learn about ancestral agricultural practices through a Tequila and Mezcal tasting on the Wild Mile! Lou is the director of S.A.C.R.E.D, a nonprofit that helps improve lives in the rural Mexican communities where heritage agave spirits are made. They have gifted more than 55,000 agave seedlings to families having a hard time accessing agave. S.A.C.R.E.D has also built three projects to mitigate water-insecurity; four greenhouses; one community plaza; and is just finishing a library and a small distillery rebuild. All of this, and more, is being done in association with mezcaleros across Mexico. Join Lou to explore ancestral applications to modern problems — a discussion augmented and illustrated by the handmade agave spirits that come from the communities with which S.A.C.R.E.D partners
