We Installed a New Garden!
Also, it’s the last month of our workshop series, and there’s a funny muskrat you should know about.
A New Garden at Bubbly Creek
August was an exciting time for our team! We successfully added an additional floating wetland at our Bubbly Creek installation, with the help of 96 amazing volunteers. The new garden features a tiered planting system, with special substrate designed by Nance Klehm of Social Ecologies. The garden will add 1,950 square feet of native wetland habitat to the river!
Almost as soon as it was anchored, the locals moved in! It’s awesome to see the installation already drawing a satisfied audience, and we can’t wait to see who else decides to call it home in the future!

Office Insights
Ok so there’s this muskrat, right? Maybe two separate muskrats - it’s hard to tell. Anyways, this guy LOVES duckweed. We’re not sure why. Maybe muskrats just find duckweed tasty…but that wouldn’t explain why we don’t see MORE muskrats eating it, since there’s no shortage of either muskrats or duckweed.
The running theory is that this guy is just a real weirdo (by muskrat standards). Every day, he’s out there by the Wild Mile, just HOUSING the stuff. We’re talking both hands, lazer-focus, tunnel-vision SHOVELING of the duckweed into his tiny little mouth.
Anyways check him out on our TikTok. Give us a follow while you’re at it!
