Howl-oween Recap

Our third annual Howl-oween Canine Costume Contest was our most well-attended to date! With a highly competitive pool of fabulously-dressed dogs, our judges had a tough task. Finally, our winners emerged!!

First Place: Nora the Grouch
Second Place: Maxine, as Sloane from Ferris Bueller
Third Place: Blue, who robbed the Louvre
Honorable Mention: Winter, our 2023 champ, as Wednesday Adams

Huge congratulations to the winners, and thank you to all the competitors for making this year’s event a successful showcase of canine creativity!

More Mussel-Mass

In addition to the ~3,000 native freshwater mussels we installed earlier this year at the Wild Mile, we just added another ~2,000 to our South Branch location! These lil buddies are currently the size of a fingernail, but will grow up to filter 10 gallons of water each, every day - a crucial task in the historically polluted Bubbly Creek region. This batch of mussels came to us from our friends the DuPage County Forest Preserves Urban Stream Research Center, who work hard to raise these mollusks through the most sensitive phases of their life cycle!

November Events Calendar

Slimmer pickings this month! Event descriptions and RSVP links can always be found on the events page of our website.

Office Insights

Bubba Tucker may not have gotten on the podium at this year’s Howl-oween, but he accomplished what he came to do - manipulating every single attendee into giving him love and affection. Photographic proof below. If you are one of the suckers who has fallen victim to his emotional antics in the past, fear not - you are not alone.
